There is a reason why Republicans and Conservatives are good at opposing and being in the opposition. Because the Republican-Conservative world view is simply antithetical to progress. It is of the misery loves company dynamic and it's operative, fleecing the popular vote.
While profiteers under the guise of less government equals freedom use the organized violence of government to enable their idealistic and childish views of political-Economy.
