With $25,000 to be made in nine months of carrying a pregnancy to term, surrogate pregnancy is a full-fledged industry.
This isn't a complicated issue for single Women, it's a dollar and cent one. Defining it as prostitution as it's critiqued, is for social-mechanics and confounded feminist. Prostitution as we know is very well an element in relatively most of human affairs.
Still there is an underside to the industrialization of surrogacy that is subversive and it's when married Women opt into it. Specifically, what is a marriage if the wife is renting out her womb, carrying an alien embryo for the specific purpose of money and the accompanying myriad emotions of pregnancy which has to introduce a discordant narrative into the marriage.
A 30 year old married with 2 kids, 6 and 4, Wisconsin Woman described her foray into surrogacy with,"what else am I going to do with my life that means so much". The disconnect in this attitude is ridiculously revealing! Why should carrying someone else's child transcend the totality of her family, her husband and kids? What sort of social realities are inducing or stimulating such down right antagonistic perspectives within a marriage?
