Contra-Donald Trump and The Resurrection of Walter Cronkite Editorializing By William Thorpe
A seminal moment in American media was the journalist Walter Cronkite transforming the act of editorializing into journalistic purity with the revelation, that the government was lying to the American people on the nature, development, and circumstance of the Vietnam War.
Critics of Walter Cronkite and his televised editorializing were the usual suspects, that reactionary minority who for their own wretched ends and pathetic interest were threatened by the revelations of Walter Cronkite televised editorializing.
Since Walter Cronkite dared challenge the oppositionary status quo with his televised revealing editorials. Academia has lionized the act while culturally it is iconic.
So fast forward to another war, the one currently being waged by Donald J. Trump against the nation and its hard-won truths, that directly poses the question: Who amongst the non-Fox News legatees of Walter Cronkite have the resolve to advance Cronkites notion that editorializing is not only required but demanded when the pursuit of journalistic equivalency is not only morally and professionally repugnant, but not doing it is crass and abject cowardice.
Secondly, the reminder that accountability isn't a Paul aka Saul declarative, descending from the "grace" of the Nazarene on cherubic and seraphic wings, nor will it emerge from heroic but gelded impeachment push. But there are enough accumulated archival facts of malfeasance, moral turpitude, mendacity and base corruption of Donald J. Trump's actions and behavior to interrupt the robotic delivery by any of the non-Fox News anchors with the televised resurrection of their Walter Cronkite moment, shaking and rousing the nation from the stupor of the unimaginable.
