Gretchen Wilson, Redneck Woman Defensive

CBS's The Talk Sheryl Underwood recently asked Country Singer Gretchen Wilson, if she had the Redneck spirit, because Gretchen Wilson once had a hit "Redneck Woman".

Gretchen Wilson reflexively got defensive, her face closed and she rhetorically pleaded and (I paraphrase) I Don't know what you mean by Redneck...

I found this humorous and abjectedly pitiful, a psychological abscessed scab painfully exposed in full view as if Gretchen Wilson epitomized an anxiety suppressed so firmly that her recourse was to disavow a cultural state was affirmatively iconic in her life...Redneck Woman.

The obscenity of the spectacle was Gretchen Wilson perceived her relationship to Redneck via the narrative of it's critics.

So what then does this mean: That despite the up yours to the Redneck critique, Gretchen Wilson is secretly susceptible?
